The YDPMU Skin Reader provides a starting reference within the coordinated SK system. It does not replace in-person visual assessment, professional training, client screening, an appropriate test protocol or practitioner judgment.

Skin tone cannot be evaluated accurately through a single category, photograph or Fitzpatrick type. Visible depth, undertone, surrounding skin, lighting and the characteristics of the intended area can all influence shade assessment.

The YDPMU SK system helps practitioners compare lighter, medium and deeper shade directions, review neighboring colors, evaluate visible depth separately from undertone and record selected shade codes, permitted ratios and batch information.

How the Skin Reader Supports the Workflow

1. Confirm that the client and intended area are suitable.
2. Prepare and calibrate the Skin Reader according to the supplied instructions.
3. Take readings from suitable comparison areas of surrounding skin.
4. Repeat readings where appropriate.
5. Use the result as a starting reference and compare neighboring SK shades.
6. Review visible depth, undertone, lighting and tissue characteristics.
7. Follow the practitioner’s professional test and suitability protocol.
8. Record the selected shade, any permitted ratio, pigment batch and assessment conditions.

The Skin Reader does not automatically determine the final pigment shade or guarantee an exact healed match.

Comparing and Preparing SK Shades

Where mixing is permitted by the current instructions, use controlled quantities and document every shade code, ratio and batch. Avoid estimating ratios only by eye, and do not assume that unrelated pigment formulas are compatible.

Professional Cosmetic Camouflage Applications

Depending on practitioner training, client assessment, local requirements and the condition of the intended area, the system may support cosmetic appearance work involving suitable fully healed scars, stable areas affected by loss of natural pigmentation, fully healed stretch marks, areola and restorative cosmetic tattoo artistry, and other suitable areas requiring professional cosmetic color balancing.
